Rucker Families:  The Tennessee Department of Education ("TDOE") has asked the public to comment on its draft plan for how it plans to transition to the new federal K-12 education law, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  The following statement is from the TDOE:

Every Student Succeeds Act:
Public encouraged to comment on draft plan
  • In December, the department released our draft state plan for how we plan to transition to the new federal K-12 education law, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
  • The draft plan incorporates much of the input we received over the past several months and builds on the work we have started through our strategic plan,Tennessee Succeeds.
  • We believe this draft plan presents a strong vision for the work ahead, clarity on how ESSA will strengthen our schools in Tennessee, and concrete strategies for how we will achieve our shared goals.
  • You can view theplanand provide us with public comment viaour ESSA website, and a direct link to the feedback form is here. The public comment period will be open throughJanuary 31, 2017.
